Heffernan Chiropractic Clinic has always provided services congruent with chiropractic’s original philosophy.

The philosophy of chiropractic recognizes that the body is a self-healing, self-regulating organism. The body and life itself have the potential for growth. We recognize that health is a God-given birth rite. Our procedures are geared toward removing interferences to the body’s ability to heal and mend itself. Rather than treating diseases and symptoms, our emphasis is on restoring health by boosting immune function and removing pressure and irritation to the nervous system. The nervous system is the master controlling system of the body. It adapts each of us to our environment. Removing nervous system interference allows your body to operate at its optimum potential.

As a patient at Heffernan Chiropractic Clinic, you can expect the following services:

  • A thorough postural/chiropractic examination
  • An appropriate x-ray examination
  • Application of specific chiropractic adjustments
  • A designed clinical nutrition program
  • Rehabilitative exercises taught to help patients manage their own spinal hygiene
  • Fittings for heel lifts or orthotics as deemed necessary

Why do kids need Chiropractic?

Spinal trauma may occur as early as birth. Pulling, twisting, or interventions such as vacuum extractions, forceps delivery or c-sections can all impact the newborn's spine and nervous system. The good news is that children can be checked for interference to their nervous system (called "Vertebral Subluxation Complex" or "VSC") as early as moments after birth.

Children experience constant physical changes as they grow while learning to roll over, sit, stand, crawl, walk, ride a bicycle, swing from the monkey bars, etc. Sometimes all this activity can cause stress, pressure, or irritation to the nervous system that may lower the child's resistance to illness or set them up for future health issues as an adult. If detected during a spinal checkup, this can be easily corrected by a chiropractic adjustment. Children generally have a quick and favourable response to chiropractic care. Spinal checkups will help your children's bodies function at their highest potential.

Is Chiropractic Safe for children?

This is a valid and common concern among parents who mistakenly believe that their child will receive adjustments like the ones they receive. Adjusting techniques are modified for each person's size and spinal condition. Infants' and children's spines rarely have the longstanding muscle tension seen in adults. This makes children's chiropractic adjustments gentle, comfortable and effective.

Common Childhood Conditions Helped by Chiropractic Care

The slightest misalignment can cause a child to suffer from adult type problems. For many, a simple, painless spinal exam will allow your chiropractor to find and adjust (if necessary) any misalignments.
